Mary is still within the aoe blast radius of this spell but Bob doesn't bother extending his spell defense to her since spell defense does nothing to help soak indirect spell damage. The Ball Lightning has an area of effect of 6 meters since it was cast at force 6. The Ball Lightning flies past Bob's head and lands 8 meters behind him (10m - 2 net hits). The Gm rolls 2d6 (same as an aerodynamic grenade) and rolls a 10. The GM then rolls to determine how far it goes past Bob. The GM rolls 2d6 to determine scatter direction and gets 7, meaning the Ball Lightning goes right past Bob. This reduces Joe's net hits to 2 and causes scatter. Bob rolls only his counterspelling dice and lands 1 hit. Joe lands 3 hits on his spellcasting test. (*FIXED for a 2nd time)Д®xample 4.) Bob has 5 Counterspelling dice. Mary rolls (Body) and gets 0 hits but gets an additional 4 hits from Bob's spell defense for a net total of 4 hits. Bob rolls (Body) and gets 2 hits, then he rolls his 5 Counterspelling dice and gets 4 hits for a net total of 6 hits. Bob has 6 magic so he can extend his spell defense to up to 6 people, including himself. Bob decides to spend a free action to extend his spell defense to Mary in addition to himself, to help her defend against Joe's manaball. Joe gets 4 hits on his spellcasting test. (*Fixed)Д®xample 3.) Bob has 5 counterspelling dice. This is enough hits to bring Joe's net hits to 0, thus making the spell miss. Bob rolls (Intuition + Reaction + 5 Counterspelling) and lands 4 hits. Bob decides to add his counterspelling dice to this defense roll. Since lightning bolt is an indirect spell Bob must roll his (Intuition + Reaction) to see if he dodges it. Joe performs his spellcasting test (spellcasting + magic) and gets 4 hits. Joe casts a force 6 lightning bolt at Bob. (*FIXED for the 2nd time)Д®xample 2.) Bob has 5 counterspelling dice. Since there is no resistance tests with direct spells, Bob gets hit for 1 physical damage since 1 is the net hits that Joe got with his manabolt. Bob rolls his (Body + 5 Counterspelling) and gets 3 hits.
